Bestselling Children's Books in Q1 2013

Everyone loves bestsellers. I know I do.

And each day many of you, my friends, buy children's books via affiliate links on my website.

Some books are more popular, some less.

Trends? Well, I can see them only after I crunch the numbers.

So, I decided to compile a list of the Top 10 bestselling children's books based on purchases made via the Read Aloud Dad site, so that we can all see which books were the most popular between January and March 2013.

So without much further ado, I will let the numbers speak for themselves.

If you click the cover of the book, it will lead you to my review (except in the case of books that have not yet been reviewed by me)

TOP 10 Bestselling Children's Books in Q1 2013

1. Andrew Henry's Meadow

A gem of a book that has inspired generations of boys and girls to create and be themselves.

This book was the absolute hit in the first three months of the year and it was head and shoulders ahead of the second-place book. In fact, twice as many copies of Andrew Henry's Meadow were sold.

Surprised? Well, I was.

2. Peter Pan

In my humble opinion, the best illustrated version of Peter Pan there is. Scott Gustafson's illustrations are simply perfect.

3. A Little History of the World (Illustrated edition)

When I decided one day to get ready for reading the greatest story of all to my twins, I needed a book. The best read aloud world history. I found it.

4. The Island of Adventure

A fantastic adventure series by the queen of children's literature - Enid Blyton.

5. The Adventures of Pinocchio

Pinocchio. No need to explain. But can you find a fantastically illustrated version of the unabridged text? Read Aloud Dad did. Fabulous images by Roberto Innocenti.

6. Into the Unknown: How Great Explorers Found Their Way by Land, Sea, and Air

This is a gem of a book. Children's books don't come so detailed any more. I can't wait until my kids are a bit older to read this fabulous story about the expeditions of the greatest explorers with AMAZING illustrations by Stephen Biesty.

7. The Bears on Hemlock Mountain

Some read alouds work perfectly in winter. This is a story that will have your kids sitting on the edge of their seats. And they will be asking themselves:  Are there bears on Hemlock mountain? What do you think. Are there?

8. G is for Gladiators: An Ancient Rome Alphabet

I haven't seen this beautifully illustrated alphabet book, but it looks so original and charming. Irresistible.

9. Bomb: The Race to Build--and Steal--the World's Most Dangerous Weapon

A fantastic story about the race to build the world's first A-bomb. A beautifully presented story by Steve Sheinkin.

10. Classic Fairy Tales

Fairy tales as they are supposed to look. This fantastically illustrated treasury (by Scott Gustafson) of some of the most important fairy tales is a must-read for families.

Can't say I am surprised that you like Scott Gustafson's work.

Happy reading in 2013! I will be back at the end of the second quarter (April-June) 2013 with a new list of children's book bestsellers.
